It was the lack of availability of these specific instructions that led me to the erroneous assumption that the methods I found described elsewhere were just as good. Perhaps I should have know when the bearings didn't just "drop in", there were bigger problems ahead. All water under the Shit Creek bridge at this point.

OK, here's the manual for now. I'm going to try and get this added to scooterhelp. Heat only till the water boils off. That puts you slightly over the target temp but gives you a bit of extra time. After the cases are hot, the seal goes in and then the crank complete with bearings.

This book covers Vespa widemount models from to It is from France so obviously all the text is in French.. It has many pictures of a full engine disassembly with all the fancy purpose built tools of the day, two page pull out diagrams of parts and exploded drawings, and full specification and wear tolerances for major parts.

Veni, Vidi, Posti. Madison Sully. I used to buy Hanes manuals for my cars, then stopped about 10 years ago or so. Brakes are brakes, oil changes are all about the same, etc. Just gain experience, then go by the manufacturer's time intervals for things.

I agree but, isn't the hp engine different enough to need some new info? I've got the owner's manual. We're talkin about a workshop manual for the HPE. Thanks for that.
