Can t install the sims 3

I made a new administrator account on my computer last night, and still no progress. After wiping all traces of Origin from my system, I attempted a new install from the disk today, with the same problems. After the failed base game install, I attempted the install again from Origin, with no progress. I logged out of Origin and closed the program, then restarted the program.

I went back to the Games window, where, when I hovered over the cover image, instead of the "Install" option, it said "Download". I'd rather not have to download it from the internet, as 1 I have the disk, and 2 it would more than likely cap our data allowance. Just do the same for Sims 3 instead of Mass Effect 3. Did a little more searching, and tried a couple different things, none of which worked. Launcher appeared momentarily, Origin opened, and installation began. InstallShield Wizard window came up, but it was empty, followed shortly by the window closing out and a Windows error popup, saying "Windows Explorer has stopped working.

Please reinstall the base game. Try reinstalling the program to fix this problem. Was the game ever installed on that computer?

DId you check for left over registery keys and files? I haven't ever been able to successfully install the game, but I cleaned out anyway, though there wasn't much to clean up. Uninstalled Origin, cleaning out all Origin files.

Restarted the computer and attempted the install again from the disk. Still unsuccessful. I'm at a loss, too, but I really do appreciate all your help and suggestions. There's many people in the tech forum there. Not sure if they can help you but they can do help while you're on chat.

After clicking retry several times and receiving the same error message, I decided to click ignore. Upon playing the game, everything seemed smooth until I tried to use a custom color for a sim's clothing, at which time the game simply disappeared.

After this, I decided to try an reinstall the game. Recalling that there was an error last time, I thought that there may have been something wrong with my disc, so I used a disc that installed on my friend's computer just fine, and used my authentication code. During the second install, I unfortunately recieved the same error message. At this point, I started to look at some troubleshooting guides. I did everything that was suggested: I ran a disk clean-up, defragmenter, shut down all unecessary processes, etc, but I still recieved that same error message after doing all of these things.

I even ran the system requirements check on the website, and it says that I meet and exceed all system specifications. I've also tried copying all of the disk's files to my hard drive and running the install from there, but to no avail. VIX - 12 years ago. It might just be an error with your computer because if there was something wrong with the game then it wouldn't have worked on your friend's computer either.
